How to Apply
Prospective students must first apply to the University of Kentucky Graduate School as a Graduate Certificate Student in Digital Mapping. It is a fairly simple process and will take 5-10 minutes.
We are not currently able to accept applications to the Master’s program.
The deadline for application is two weeks before courses start. For the Winter 2017 term (beginning January 23, 2017), applications are due January 8th. This is a hard and fast deadline, so be sure to apply by January 8, 2017. Applications for a Fall 2016 start are now closed.
Applicants to the Graduate Certificate in Digital Mapping are required to hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited U.S. Institution, or an international credential deemed equivalent to a four-year bachelor's degree.
Applicants will be required to provide:
- A transcript from their highest degree-granting institution.
- A non-refundable $65 application fee ($75 for international applicants, $30 for current UK students)
- TOEFL or IELTS score (international applicants only). Minimum scores are listed on the graduate school's admission page.
GRE scores are not required for admissions to the graduate certificate.
Once the application is submitted, it will be reviewed by the Director of New Maps Plus, who will notify the graduate school of their admissions decision. The student will then be notified of the decision and provided with further instructions for enrollment in courses. If you have questions about admissions criteria and the review process please contact us.

The 2016-17 academic year cost per credit hour is $639.50, plus a $10 per credit hour distance learning fee. Thus the MAP 671 course (3 credits) costs $1948.50 and the MAP 672/673 courses (4 credits) cost $2598 each.
In order to qualify for federally subsidized student loans one must be an official degree seeking student. This means that students enrolled in the graduate certificate in Digital Mapping are not eligible for federal loans. We anticipate that we will begin accepting applications for the M.Sc. in Digital Mapping in March/April 2016. At this point Master’s students will be eligible for federally subsidized student loans.
However, many employers offer tuition payment and reimbursement programs and we encourage you to check with your place of employment. You can also visit the University of Kentucky’s FInancial Aid Office webpage for information on Alternative Loans.
The State Approving Agency for Veterans Education has approved the graduate certificate and M.Sc. in Digital Mapping for veteran benefits payment. Please contact Amy Southwood (email@example.com) at the UK Veteran's Resource centerwith any questions.
Students will be billed by Student Account Services and any financial questions should be directed to that office. Note: UK will send your billing notifications to your official University of Kentucky email address (your link blue account) so be sure to regularly check it and/or forward it to your normal account. Check out the FAQ for more information. You can also email Student Accounts Services at firstname.lastname@example.org
