Fostering a New Generation of Mapping

As part three of the MapShop2014 mapping workshop, MIT’s Mike Foster leads the audience through some basics of using the open source Geographic Information System (GIS) software package, QGIS. He familiarizes new users to the layout and functionality of the QGIS user interface before leading a hands-on tutorial of adding data to the project, setting an appropriate projection, exporting transposed data into various web mapping formats, to composing a map for print production. This workshop serves to put New Maps Plus at the forefront of digital mapping education.
